DOW Jones Sets New High

Finance

The Dow Jones Industrial Average set a new record high today stepping through 21600 with an intra-day high of 21682 to settle 21637 at close. Just how much higher can the DOW 30 go this year? Much of the record-breaking increase is attributed to Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen’s comments this week suggesting that interest rate increases will be gradual and limited, if at all again this year. I guess the markets like that. Weak economic data also played its part in reducing the chances of another rate hike in 2017.

Didn’t used to be that weak economic data pushed market down and good economic data help market up? What a strange period of time with are living through!

The S&P 500 closed at a new record high of 2459 with an intra-day high of 2463.
