Online security is important!

Hacking and cyber-attacks have become part of our everyday online lives now and we need to take these threats very seriously. There is much we can do to protect ourselves online. Here are a few simple general steps we can all take to help keep our online lives safer…

1. Install internet security or at the very least anti-virus software.

2. Set-up anti spam filters (usually done as part of installing internet security).

3. Never ever open unknown links in emails.

4. Never ever give out your passwords to anyone.

5. Keep passwords secure.

7. Don’t use the same password for all of your online accounts.

7. Make sure you use a mixture of upper & lower case letters and mix in numbers and symbols too.

8. Here is a sample of a good strong password: 40Np1n£e&Gx – (Please don’t use this one).

Or better still – something like this: poppy-time-munch-bat

9. Never give out bank details – account number, sort code, name or password.

10.Banks NEVER ask for your passwords!!
