Hack Attack!

A warning from the government suggests businesses could face fines if they do not do more to protect themselves from cyber-attacks.

In-light of the recent ransomware cyber attacks that left many companies woefully exposed to these threats, the government is forcing the issue by suggesting firms will be fined if they do not do more to protect themselves from cyber-attacks.

Strategy

A better strategy is required to ensure essential infrastructure such as health, energy, water, communications and transport for example are made to do more to protect their systems.

This consultation comes shortly after the NHS suffered a ransomware attack that exposed its apparent weakness to such threats. Preparing to prevent cyber-attacks has to be a good thing – but in my opinion, we shouldn’t have to be forced to take these security measures – it should be a natural progression that all businesses automatically adopt.

Message to all businesses out there – its time to make sure your online security measures are up-to-date!
